about

After receiving positive reviews and a few warm pats on the back for their previous records THE EMPIRE (2013) and COMMON SENSE (2016), Be Astronaut reiterates with a new four track EP.

While still relying on its signature hard-hitting beats, pumping bass lines, high-pitched vocals and screeching guitar riffs, the project this time welcomes a new ally: Rémi Cormier's (Urban Science Brass Band) brass ingenuity. ODD MAN RUSH’s lyrical environment honours the beauty of team sports ("Saturday Is Alright", "Corsica"), but also explores the darker shades of hidden individual truths ("No City Lights") and despair in the pursuit of personal success ("The Ground"). Produced by Rémi Hermoso (Sphera Collective), the record encourages thought and reflection.

Solid though experimental, ODD MAN RUSH allows Be Astronaut to display convincing new funk and brassy textures which, combined with the band’s original rock sound, give the mix a new kind of kick. Although it has never lacked flavour, it is now more powerful than ever.
